FAQs
Q: Do I need to give credit?
A: Credit is appreciated but not required. If you’d like to credit us, you can link to our website: https://thedigitalfurnace.com
Q: Can I use your images in a product I sell?
A: Yes, as long as the product is not a template or resource pack where our images are the main value. For example, you can use our image on a t-shirt you sell, but not in a “premium stock photo pack” you sell.
Q: Can I use your logo assets in my design?
A: Yes, but you cannot imply that the brand endorses your product. The logos remain trademarks of their respective owners.
Q: What exactly is a "Derivative Work" or "Final Product"?
A: These are your original creations where our content is a component, not the main value. Examples include a website banner that uses our image as a background, a T-shirt design that incorporates our graphic, or a marketing video that includes our clip. You can sell that T-shirt or client website. You cannot sell the background image file by itself as part of a graphics pack.
Q: Can I use your content in a template for sale (like a Canva template, WordPress theme, or PowerPoint template)?
A: This depends on the type of content and how it is used. Our general rule is that users of your template should not be able to extract our files for reuse. Please follow these guidelines:
❌ NOT ALLOWED: You cannot include our logo-type images, brand assets, or distinctive graphic elements as core, reusable components of your template. If a user can save these elements individually and use them in other projects, it violates our license.
✅ CONDITIONALLY ALLOWED: You may incorporate our generic clipart, background images, textures, or simple icons into your template’s design. For example, a background image that is part of a pre-designed slide layout is acceptable, as the user is buying the slide design, not the background file itself.
Q: Can I use your content on print-on-demand sites (like Redbubble, Spreadshirt, or Printful)?
A: Yes, you can, as long as you are creating an original design (a Derivative Work) and selling a finished physical product (like a mug or poster). You cannot simply upload our original image file to these sites as a standalone “stock graphic” for others to use in their designs.
Q: What does "non-transferable" mean in the license?
A: It means the license is granted directly to you (the person or entity who downloads it). You cannot transfer or “give” the license to someone else. For example, a design agency can use the content in work for a client, but cannot give the raw files to the client for their unlimited future use. The client would need to download their own copy.
Q: I downloaded a logo. Can I trademark a design that includes it?
A: No. You cannot claim exclusive rights to our content. You cannot trademark, copyright, or otherwise claim ownership of our original files or a design that consists predominantly of unmodified Digital Furnace content.
Q: Are there any guarantees on the files?
A: All content is provided “as is” without warranties. While we strive for quality, we do not guarantee that all necessary model or property releases have been obtained. For sensitive commercial uses (like a national ad campaign), it is your responsibility to ensure the content is suitable and to obtain any necessary legal releases.
Q: Is this really free for commercial use?
A: Yes! You can use our content in projects you create for clients, in advertisements, on products you sell, and in any other commercial venture. You pay nothing and owe no royalties. The only restriction is that you cannot resell or redistribute our original files.
Q: I need to use content in a way not listed here. What should I do?
A: Contact us! We’re reasonable and happy to discuss special use cases. Please reach out via our contact page with details of your project.
